An under-recognized weight training program has long been yielding huge results for elite strength athletes. I’m talking about the 5×5 program, specifically the “madcow” version by Bill Starr. There are many variations on the 5×5 theme but this particular version has been used by a lot of hardcore strength/power athletes with great success. Here’s a link that outlines more about the program: http://www.wackyhq.com/madcow5×5/geocities/5×5_Program/Linear_5×5.htm

Make sure you download the templates they provide as it’s crucial to carefully track your daily progress if you are seriously implementing the program. I also suggest that you start with lighter weights than you might expect; the intensity of the program quickly ramps up and gets pretty brutal (in a good way, although be prepared to be sore even if you’re a veteran lifter). Especially take it easy on the squats and deadlifts which can really kill your back when you do them day after day.
